on greyish-black thorax; Grey to yellow-brown abdomen with dark markings
on the sides. Large reddish compound eyes; feathery antennae; transparent
wings. Mouth parts expanded at the tip for sponging and lapping up
food. They have hairy legs with sharp claws and adhesive (pulvillar)
pads for holding onto surfaces. |

Adult sucks on liquid containing sweet or decaying substances.
Larvae feed on moist food rich in decaying organic matter. |

Near garbage, manure, decaying or exposed foods |
| Wanted For: |
Being a nuisance, contamination of food and most seriously
carrying diseases such as typhoid fever, cholera, dysentery, pinworms,
hookworms and some tapeworms. |
