This pest can cause a painful sting. It is one of the invasive species recently found in Hawaii that threatens Hawaii's native fauna and flora. They especially attack and eat other ant species. A total of 44 ant species have been found in the Hawaiian Islands. None of these ants are native. They were all accidentally introduced by humans.
