Caption: Pseudomonas sp. - Gram-negative, aerobic, enteric, rod prokaryote. Pseudomonas spp. are able to grow in extreme environments. Any carbon or hydrocarbon source is a suitable place for them to live. This species was isolated from a soil environment that had high levels of polyaromatic hydrocarbon compounds. It is known to degrade hydrocarbon compounds. The bacterial genus Pseudomonas (pseudomonad) includes plant pathogenic bacteria such as P. syringae, the human pathogen P. aeruginosa, the ubiquitous soil bacterium P. putida, and some species that are known to cause problems in dairy products. P. aeruginosa usually causes problems to humans who have already have had their immune systems weakened.
