Caption: Mold (Epicoccum purpurascens) hyphae, conidiophores and conidia (spores). This fungus is commonly found in the air, soil and decaying foods. It is also found in some animals and textile products. It is the causative agent of plant leaf spots. Epicoccum purpurascens has recently been discovered to be allergen. It has also been shown to have anitfungal and antibacterial properties.
